Overhead Line (OHL) Design Engineer

NG Bailey, through its Freedom Professional Services division, is seeking a skilled and experienced Overhead Line (OHL) Design Engineer to join their dynamic team. This pivotal role involves leading the comprehensive design and successful delivery of new build and refurbishment OHL projects. The successful candidate will provide essential technical guidance, ensuring all designs adhere to stringent technical and safety standards, as well as client specifications. This hybrid position offers flexibility, with base options in Leeds, Stowmarket, or London, and requires occasional travel for client engagements, team meetings, and site visits across the UK. Key deliverables include: - Drive the conceptualization and development of OHL projects, upholding the highest technical and safety compliance. - Assume full responsibility for OHL design aspects, including precise conductor modeling and sizing, appropriate insulation specification, lightning protection strategies, optimal line routing, sophisticated PLS-CAD modeling, rigorous clearance verification, and robust structure/foundation analysis using tools like PLS-TOWER and PLS-POLE. - Author professional technical documentation, encompassing engineering reports, detailed specifications, accurate drawings, and comprehensive calculations, all in line with industry benchmarks. - Prepare compelling proposals for OHL design initiatives, defining project scope, allocating resources effectively, cost estimation, and outlining clear deliverables. - Offer expert technical assistance and mentorship to colleagues, supporting tendering activities and fostering the development of junior engineers. - Adhere strictly to Freedom/NGB Group's quality assurance framework or equivalent project management methodologies. - Participate in essential site visits, inspections, and stakeholder meetings as required.
